Escape from the City

I took these photos on Christmas morning outside my grandparent's house in Iowa. They have such a calm & serene quality to them. It is such a contrast to my daily life in New York that I thought I would share them.

Christmas Morning in Iowa

Picnic anyone?

P.S. my 27th birthday is coming up on Saturday January 10th, I am planning to make that my first photo for my 365 project! Hopefully I will be able to keep it up for a year! More on that later!

Weekend Wandering

Sunday turned out to be a gorgeous day with great light...even the fallen blooms came back to life on camera. Please forgive my absence from this space. I have been extremely busy and have been uninspired ever since my great grandmother passed away. One way I coped with everything that was going on in my life was to bury myself in work and more work. I don't know if it helped me emotionally (it certainly didn't help me creatively), but I was rewarded with a raise and a promotion, so that brightened my day and helped me see the beauty around me with a fresh set of eyes. It is true, the sun always rises. Here are a few spring photos I snapped while walking through my neighboorhood this weekend...

Self Portrait Time Capsule

I've been really enjoying receiving Photojobo's time capsule emails, it is fun to see what my photos looked like a year ago. Especially since I traded up cameras, and am currently pretty satisfied with my Nikon D40x. I was also looking through my self portrait set...which dates back to 3/4 years ago and chose some of my favorites to create the below collage. The upper left photo was taken when I first moved to NYC, 3 years ago, The most recent photo is in the lower right corner, that photo was taken this past Saturday so while most of the photos are pretty current they do range in time making them a time capsule of sorts.

Photos From My Trip To Iowa

It was sooo cold & snowy when I was there last week, so I didn't get too many outside shots. I did however snap a few of these cuties:

My favorite shot is this snowy Iowa sunset:

Fall Photos Week 4

I'm a little behind, I took 3 days off from work to relax & to house sit. I decided I want to be a freelance house sitter. It is the best thing ever! :) :) It wasn't a big weekend for photos, I hated half of the photos I took, but these were pretty sweet...

1. sophie giving me kisses (black & white), 2. heaven on earth, 3. foxtail, 4. FETCH!

Sophie also loves house sitting so long as there is a yard! What a great way to end October!

Fall Photos Week 3

Sweet, sweet october! Week three of my fall photo mission:

1. a berry beautiful day, 2. fall brings blue skies, 3. red october, 4. falling for you

Only about a quarter of the trees have started to turn here, so I think the next two weeks will be the best for fall photo opts. Stay tuned.
