Friday Elements: Metal
I didn't have a lot going for this one, and I woke up late today so I didn't have time to go on a photo scavenger hunt here in NYC, but I thought this polaroid of a chain link fence I snapped in Brooklyn a few weeks ago would suffice. Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!!

Wednesday Elements: Air
I took this photo from my plane window as I was traveling back to NYC from Chicago (a place I consider my second hometown). I think it illustrates the element "Air" very nicely.

Self Portrait Challenge: Pattern Week 3
Inspire Me Thursday: Watercolor
I sketched this morning in my sketchbook and added water color...my sketchbook isn't a water color journal so I'm sure this would have turned out better had I used watercolor paper. I'm having a love affair of sorts with sunflowers right now, and have been filling my apartment with them, so I guess they inspired me...

Pretty In Pink Inspiration Journal Page
Pink is my favorite color, so why shouldn't I wear pink this fall? Here are several reasons why (and how) I should wear the hue:

so long sweet summer journal pages
I just had my last big summer bash out in the Hamptons this past weekend. Back in the city I had time to reflect on the fall collections and iron out the details of my fall wardrobe prospects. To further complicate matters, the focus is on fashion week, so my mind is already in September. Summer is officially over for me, for better or worse. Summer is my favorite season, but I have a sore throat, my mind has wandered into fall territory, so with the exception of a few end of summer sample sales it is highly unlikely that I will be enjoying very much of the end of the season. Scorin cheap(er) designer duds does put a smile on my face, but it isn't enough to bring my summer back to life. Anyway, this is my ode to the vintage beach babe that existed in the era before Baywatch...

Inspire Me Thursday: DNA
One of my favorite quotes is:
"Fashions fade, style is eternal." ~ Yves Saint Laurent
When I saw the prompt was DNA, I thought of this quote...I'm pretty sure style, design, fashion, & art are embedded somewhere in my DNA...so I designed a DNA print dress...so cute! (would probably never wear it though hahaha!)

Inspire Me Thursday: Dear Diary
For some reason this was a tough topic for me, hence the late post. I'm not sure why exactly. I just kept thinking of this book, and more specifically the girl pictured on the cover. (I bought the book, and it is lovely, but it didn't really help me with this entry.) I kept thinking about the diaries I had as a girl with the stupid locks that are easy to pick. You see I will try to break into my own diary to see how easy it is to break into. I spend hours trying to hide it in a creative location (and then try to remember where I put it). All of this can be exhausting, especially when you consider the fact that I am the kind of girl who religiously writes in my journal only to destroy it months later for fear that someone will read it. I've done this consistently since the 2nd grade. If I don't ruin the journal, I write cryptically (or try to). I thought about creating my own code or learning another language for the sole purpose of concealing my entries from unwanted eyes, but that just takes too much effort.
Incidentally, my parents are notorious snoops, so I blame them for my paranoia.

Kicking Back Journal Page
one of my college cross country coaches used to say "you can catch your breath at halftime". it was such a funny thing to say given that there is no half time when you're running a race. life isn't a race, although, it can feel like it sometimes. i feel like time is flying. i don't feel 25, but somehow i got here. what the hell am i doing? damn that quarter life crisis! sigh, sometimes i feel like i just need to kick back, relax, and take it all in.

Agyness Dean is the Definition of COOL
I confess, I want to BE Jessica Stam, but there is something about model Agyness Dean that simply capitivates me. She always seems like the coolest girl in the room. It is funny because I was watching American Psycho last night, {I love that movie. I love Christian Bale (yum!). } and I thought of Jessica Stam's quote in NY Magazine last fashion week & I remembered how everyone was a bit weirded out by her reference to the movie. I know that wasn't funny at all, and I'm rambling, but my point is I want to BE Jessica Stam and as I was thinking of her and that specific interview as I was plastering my journal with Agyness Dean. The truth is, Agyness Dean is 20 million times cooler than me (and that might be an understatement)...she wouldn't have to be one of the most in demand models to achieve this either. I admire her personal style, and her refusal to blend in. I'm pretty sure I have the girl next door look down pat, so I admire Agyness for charting her own path from her hair to her attitude she is so sure of herself. She is the definition of cool. Even if there are other girls on the runway that are more classically beautiful, she stands out, and I admire that infinitely.
Factory Girl, Interview, TwentyEightTwelve, Sienna + Savannah Journal Page
I'm not sure about Sienna & Savannah's new line TwentyEightTwelve yet, but let me tell you what I am sure of. Sienna Miller is gorgeous, but I envy her for her eyeliner more than anything (i need the name of her makeup artist), I loved her depiction of Edie in Factory girl, but read the book Edie: American Girl by Jean Stein before you even think about seeing the movie. The movie interview was AHMAZING. I love it, and I've had Noonsday Underground playing over and over again ever since I caught a glimpse of the trailer months ago. Steve Buscemi is a genius. Go see the movie, that's all.

Flickr Letter Sign Generator
Check out the Flickr Sign Generator...it will turn any word (even obscenities...yes, I tried) into a cool assorted letter sign similar to my creation pictured above. Now you can spell out your ransom letters (& post secret cards) in style! Beware, it can become kind of addictive!
