Red Mittens

The second batch of Christmas cards. All of mine are now in the mail...a Christmas miracle! My hand is numb! :) I really like the red mitten version I sent out today...

These cards were printed using a lino-cut block printing method. They were designed, carved, & printed by hand and are truly a labor of love!

D.I.Y. Felt Mitten Ornaments

This is an easy d.i.y. project that allows for a lot of creative possibilities and would be a wonderful project to do with kids! Another great thing, it is incredibly inexpensive. I had baker's string, scraps of white felt, and cotton balls so I opted to make due.

The result of course is simple but quite adorable. Had I searched for more supplies...glitter, buttons, paint, etc I could have went all out, but I opted to go with the less is more approach.
To be honest, I quite liked my simple candy-cane inspired mitten once I had it stuffed and stitched, and if I decide later down the road that I want to add something, I can add away!

The great thing about this project is that you can have fun with the various colors of felt, and add buttons, charms and other embellishments to make it personal. The bare bones as to what you need: Felt...two pieces cut in the shape of a mitten (one front & one back), baker's string or thread, sewing needle, cotton balls/stuffing, and any choice of decorations.

Stitch the two mitten shaped pieces of felt together while leaving the bottom open to stuff. Once stuffed, stitch up the bottom and tie a loop for hanging. At this point you can go crazy with decorating, or simply hang on your tree like so...

Halloween Pumpkin Decorating: Bunny Pumpkin

My office is having a Halloween pumpkin decorating contest next week, so they started handing out pumpkins to anyone willing to enter. After a quick brainstorming session yesterday I opted to turn my orange pumpkin into a white girly bunny with floppy ears. I finished the pumpkin this morning:



Materials used:
1 orange pumpkin
acrylic paint in Titanium White, Unbleached Titanium, Mars Black, & Primary Red
2 sheets of White Felt, 1 Sheet Rose pink Felt
Pink Satin Ribbon
a handful of cotton balls
Glue

My latest batch of hand painted bangles are complete. One with a Pear design and one with a cherry design. These are painted on wooden bangles with a darker hue than the apple set. I decided to try out the Pear version for myself and I've already received a ton of compliments. I mailed off a bunch of apple bangles yesterday, so I'm excited to hear their feedback. Anyway the latest bangles are currently available in the shop

Handmade Photo Album

I made this photo album to add to my little sister's birthday gift. The pages are hand-cut, the front cover is a letter press sunburst print, the inner pages are a light pink color, I used a heart punch for the pages and tied close with a hot pink polk-a-dot ribbon. I really liked how my previous albums turned out, so I just expanded on those with a few extra touches. Now, I should make one for myself! ;)

Cupcake Block Prints

i am currently hosting/moderating the cupcake love swap, and have been gathering things to send to my partner. i purchased some things on etsy, but decided to add in a few of my own things. i really wanted a recipe journal, so i took one of the blank journals i had laying around and transformed it! i also created a couple cupcake magnets, & also made a few cupcake notecard sets. i kept the ink light...using pink & lilac on brighter colored paper & prints. it was a lot of fun, and i ended up making so many things that i am now selling a magnet set & notecard set on etsy. anyway, here are some photos from my latest project!
