I moved into my apartment almost one year ago, and although I had plans for a black & white painting to hang over my sofa in our living area, but I have yet to find the time to actually carry out my plans. I've completed a million other projects for myself and others, but that was the big one looming out there and it was aggravating me. The white space on my wall was a constant reminder!!! For the past few weeks I've been sketching and perfecting in my mind what the final product was going to look like, so when the torrential rains opened up over NYC this weekend I sat down with my plans and started to paint. My boyfriend requested that the painting be black and white, so I decided to do a botanical silhouette painting of tulips. Here are the results:
First:
2nd & final (the boyfriend actually liked the painting best unfinished so I went back and added "highlights":--in the end I think it adds personality to the painting)

Love that you chose to do the silhouette...really is striking.
BOLD AND GRAPHIC...
Very dramatic piece, I am soooo loving black and white at the moment!!!
very stylish!
Great silhouette... I love how graphic it is.
It's as though you gave each of the tulip's their own distinct personality. A 'WOW' piece that will electrify your living room!
PS: He's one lucky boyfriend!
oh, that's just gorgeous. very striking. i'd love that over my couch!
Although I am partial to silhouettes, I really like the completed painting. It has flair.
So dramatic and graphic! I love it, and I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing it in your space.
I think this would be great to do more with this than only put on your wall. I would buy cards or whatever with this imprint on it. I like the look of it, I like the look of your blog as well!
Oh this is fab ;-)
Your tulips are wonderful! I do like the highlights, for me they have more energy.
Wow! It's great...it's a perfect blend of boldness and grace! I'm with others who have said it would be great as an illustration for a note card...OR...it would make a REALLY fun design on a nice, big, canvas tote bag! And what a fun way to show off your work!
